LING Knowledge
There are two different perspectives that are critical in terms of Skincare: Your client’s skin problems, and your perspective on those problems as a trained professional.
It is important to listen intently at your client’s concerns for their skin, and with this information you can apply your knowledge on Skincare and training to fact-check your client’s assumptions.
Remember, You Are The Skincare Professional
If your client is suggesting the incorrect solutions to their concerns, it is your responsibility as an esthetician to reinform them and guide them towards the right solution.
Many come to estheticians seeking one thing: Skin Help.
People need guidance in physically improving their skin, as well as mentally. While you are in a session with a client for 60-90 minutes, take this as an opportunity to educate them on their skin– things that aren’t apparent to the normal eye.
Address specific problems you see: dryness, clogged pores, acne scarring, etc. Always explain to clients what they may be doing to exacerbate these issues on their skin, and the key is OFFER A SOLUTION!
1. ANALYZE SKIN - skin analysis to discern skin type, congestion & specific issues
2. ADDRESS ISSUES - communicate these observations with the client, and why they occur
3. OFFER SOLUTIONS - use your knowledge of services to match the most effective treatment
As a professional it is crucial to not only memorize, but understand all the services you offer. This way, you can utilize your knowledge to pair solutions with your clients’ concern. All facial regimens should include at least one peel treatment and one infusion treatment (will go into detail in Chapter 6 & 7).
